Third-world National Allegory Within Political Unconscious Theory

As one of the most prestigious literary critic and most influential Marxist, FredericJameson (1934-) is also a comparative literature theorist who has an insightful literaryscholar about world literature. This study is further expounded on Frederic Jameson’s“Third-world national allegory” theory. Combined with current researches andcontemporary post-colonial or post-modern theories of criticism, we extend to interpret asimply text analysis to a deep theoretical criticism with counterpoint reading. This article isdiscussed from four parts. The first part focuses on the conceptual analysis of the meaning,the characters and the study object about the third-world national allegory, to analysisJameson’s perspective in the interpretation of “national allegory”. The second part is thetheoretical trace of the third-world national allegory and the explaining of “politicalunconscious” as the theoretical background and the starting point, to find out how Jamesontreat text’s interpretation as a symbolic of social behavior in Marxist view of history. Thethird part focuses on the epoch-making significance and the breadth of the third-worldnational allegory, to analysis Jameson’s capitalism logic of his cultural value and itslimitations with dialectic view, also pointing out the communicate attitude and pluralisticconcept in Jameson’s theory. The fourth part is based on the first three chapters to discussthe feasibility of Chinese interpretation about "National allegory" theory, which originatedfrom the western postmodern theory, and attempting to use it to review the third-worldliterature and to promote the creation of it.
