Study Of Uygur Translation Of Fuzzy Language In 《A Dream Of Red Mansions》

Fuzziness，as one of the basic characteristics of natural language，plays a unique part inour language．And fuzzy language forms a considerable part of language and Occurs in a widerange of contexts in both speech and writing．It has been widely used in various languageenvironment. The skillful use of fuzzy language usually helps bring about special effects bothaesthetically and pragmatically．These facts make the study of fuzzy language significant. Theworld famous poeticized classics《A Dream in Red Mansions》，abound with fuzzy languagebecause of its unique characteristics．Therefore，the quality of the translation of fuzzy languagein 《A Dream in Red Mansions》is all important factor to evaluate the English versions of《ADream in Red Mansions》．Different translators will give different renderings of the same fuzzylanguage according to their respective understanding of fuzziness．By comparing the differenttranslators’ renderings of the same fuzzy language，we can not only deepen our understandingabout the translation of the source text，but also bring in a new angle for the evaluation of thedifferent renderings．In this paper, this paper will with Abdu·Krim Walker and so these peopleTranslation of 《a Dream of Red Mansions》Uighur versions as the data, focuses on thecomparison of Chinese and Uighur translation of fuzzy language. The author will discuss thetranslations. Firstly the author gives a general elaboration on the translation of fuzziness in《a dDream of Red Mansions》at the levels of phonology, lexicon，semantics and pragmatics．And theauthor puts forward a general guideline in translating fuzzy language：to deliver completely boththe denotative and the connotative meanings of the source text，while at the same time to reflectthe style of the original text，so that the artistic effects of the source text can be reproduced in thetarget text and be appreciated by the receptors of the target text in the same way as that by thereceptors of the source text．On the basis of such a guideline，the author comes up with threegeneral translating strategies：1)translating the original fuzzy language into fuzzy language；2)translating the original fuzzy language into exact words；3)translating the original exactlanguage into fuzzy words．To sum up，this paper lies in the evaluation the translation of《a Dream of Red Mansions》from a new perspective of the rendering of fuzzy language in it. This paper has applied thetheory of fuzzy language into the evaluation of the translation of 《a Dream of Red Mansions》and the author comes up with some practical strategies for translating fuzziness in the hope ofhelping the future translation of fuzziness in literary works．...
