Language, as a tool of human communication, its fundamental characteristic is sociality. The reflection of one’s language competence is pursuant to his/her ability of oral language. And how to improve this ability becomes to the key point of teaching Chinese as a second language. Hence, the major issue to be addressed in the topic of teaching Chinese as a second language is how to enhance the foreign Chinese learners’oral language levels, particularly, for those who already have learnt basic Chinese. The essence of oral communication is focus on one’s ability to organize the spoken discourse. According to this, the central task of teaching Chinese as a second language is to focus the learning progress on the organization of spoken discourse for the Chinese learner. There’s a problem for the second language learners, which is how to organize the order of the words. In other words, when people speaking, they organize what they want to deliver to the receiver based on the function of the word. Those words come first become into theme, which is the threshold of the sentences. Those come second become into rheme. which composite the actual content of the sentences.Every language has its identical structure of theme. It’s the same for the Chinese. The idea of Chinese stand-up dialogue is a classical type of Chinese spoken disclosure has been widely accepted. Building Chinese stand-up discourse theme pattern, we can access the weak link of the second language acquisition’s ability of oral language. This thesis is based on the study of the result of the comparison between Chinese stand-up and the oral sample of second language acquisition, relating the actual cases, to find the applyment of theme in teaching Chinese as a second language. Moreover, we can use this theory to create a new teaching model to substitute the traditional word-by-word sentences building process, providing a more effective way for both the teaching Chinese as a second language practitioners and foreign Chinese language learners.
