The Traditional Art Elements In The Children’s Picture Books

Children’s picture books can show the world in an emotional and intuitive way, which is effective for the children to perceive the world. Outstanding picture books are not simple text illustrations, but works of art. They can not only transfer stories and picture information, but also spread the elements of traditional art to children’s life. The market of China’s original children’s picture books is developing rapidly, but the application of traditional art elements in children’s picture books is relatively insufficient, which cannot express and inherit philosophy of life and culture uniquely and thoroughly. If Chinese traditional art cannot strike a responsive chord with children in real life, it would not bring its cultural and historical significance into full play. Nowadays many excellent Chinese original children’s picture books are created, those with simple and vigorous elements of traditional art have high artistic value.This paper mainly focuses on the analysis of Chinese traditional art elements in children’s picture books. The first part deals with the themes of children’s picture books in the term of traditional festivals, ancient literature, traditional opera, and folk culture. The second part handles the forms of artistic expression in the light of ink, paper cutting and shadow play. Meanwhile, how to exhibit traditional artistic elements are analyzed from the perspectives of inheritance, national character and uniqueness.This paper emphatically probes into the actural cases of traditional art elements in chidlren’s picture books, and analyze the role and contribution of traditonal art elements in children’s picure books. At last, sincere suggestions are made about the selection of themes, forms of artistic expression and promotion of tradtional culture on the basis of children’s aesthetic requirements.
