The thesis is a case study report of the E-C translation practice. The author hastranslated the Chapter Six and Chapter Seven of The Wedding into Chinese under theprinciples of Faithfulness, Expressiveness and Elegance. With the comparisonbetween the source text and the translation, the thesis is endeavored to do research onthe key points and difficulties in E-C translation. According to the discussion and thepractice, it comes to the conclusion that the translation should be an organic unitywith characteristics of faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance.The thesis consists of four parts: the task description, the task process, the caseanalysis and the summary of the practice. Through the analysis on examples of thetranslated version, the thesis discovered that the translation ought to represent thewriting style, the aesthetics and literary context in the source text and the langue ofthe translation should be fluent and logic for readers to enjoy. The author, based onthe E-C translation practice, has tentatively put forward the feasible principles andmethods to deal with the problems encountered in the translation of English novels.What’s more, the author spares no efforts to make the translation a good literaryworks by improving its literary readability. It is expected that the thesis will offer areference to the novel translation researchers and fans and contribute to the researchof novel translation.
