Inherited morpheme originate from words which emerged between the pre-Qin period and Han period. It connect the ancient and modern culture, and have stronger ability of word-formation in modern times. Using inherited morpheme, it can better to understand and explain the meaning of modern Chinese words, extend the quantity of words, and also can spread Chinese culture.This paper take diachronic approach as method to research the time-inherited morpheme in modern Chinese, try to learn the meaning of these words in originally, in addition, learn the changing of their meaning and culture connotation clearly. Then apply these knowledge to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, so the students can learn Chinese words more better.The theis contain five parts. The first part is introduction, mainly stating the study purpose and significance of the thesis, current study situation and its study methods.The second part is the noumenal research.Firstly, on base of exhausting analysis about corpus, the paper count107time-inherited morpheme, then classify these morpheme according to three different categories, then analysis the word formation ability of these time-inherited morpheme.In the third part, the paper research time-inherited morpheme teaching aspect, especially its vocabulary teaching and morpheme teaching.Firstly, the author raise the standpoint that vocabulary teaching and morpheme teaching should be together and separated at the same time.Secondly, research deeply about the shapes, sounds, semantics and word-formation of the time-inherited morpheme. Thridly,the article aslo research the cultures which time-inherited morpheme represent,compare the difference about time-culture between Chinese and west countries.In the fourth part, the paper take the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language practice as an example, summarize its experience and insufficient.The last part is epilogue, summarize the research output, point out the shortage about the research.
