| The Chinese structure "bi X hai X" is a special structure of "bi" sentence, which is often used to express special feelings."bi X hai X" is common in oral Chinese and not rare in written language, the traditional study of "bi X hai X" mainly focus on the situation of "X" is a noun, but this thesis will study "bi X hai X" in many aspects.This thesis uses dynamic and static research methods to study this structure from three dimensions, that is "biao(表)-li(里)-zhi(值)". At the same time semantic feature and the combination of ontology and application research are used.This thesis have five parts to study "bi X hai X"The first chapter discusses the formation features of this structure."bi X hai X" is formed of preposition "bi" and adverb "hai" which means rising mood, and "X" which can be replaced by noun, verb and adjective. The surface forms of the two "Xs" in this structure are the same, but the inner meanings are not. Seeing from the whole constitution that "bi X hai X" is a special comparative structure which has a adverbial head structure which having another adverbial head structure in it.The second chapter focus on the syntactic feature from complex sentence and simple sentence aspects. When "bi X hai X" is used as a clause in the complex sentence, it can be put in front of, in the middle of or at the end of the complex sentence to express progressive and emphasis tone, but the structure been put at the end of the sentence is more common. When using in the simple sentence this structure can be used alone or can be used as predicate, attributive, complement, adverbial, subject and object etc.The third chapter studies the semantic feature of "bi X hai X". We find that most of the "X" are nouns like person’s name, professional name, collective noun refer to people, things noun, country name, place name or abstract noun. The noun refer to people often have the semantic feature of [+familiar to people,+typical meaning] and The noun refer to things have the semantic feature of [+familiar to people,+adjoint meaning]. When adjective serve as "X", the two "Xs" have two situations, that is the comparative subject and the comparative object belong to one category or not. Verb serve as "X" is not common, often adhere the composition of the clause before it.The fourth chapter studies the pragmatic function of this structure. Firstly,"bi X hai X" has rhetorical characteristics of Metaphor, Hyperbole, Metonymy and Repetition. Secondly, it has the pragmatic nature of oral, graduality, ambiguity, stressing and predictive. Thirdly, it has the pragmatic features of "vivid and humorous","concise and complicated","subjective and judgmental". Fourthly, it frequently used in colloquial or news style.The last part mainly studies the textbook complication of "bi" in the textbooks for teaching Chinese as a second language. By studying the status of the textbook complication of "bi" to put forward some useful suggestions on textbook complication of "bi".This paper aims to be adequate during observation, comprehensive during description and clear during explanation. All in all, this paper wants to do a deep research on this structure and give some useful advice to textbook complication of "bi". |
