The development of the higher vocational art education in Hunan province has taken shaped, and it also has played an active role in economic development and social progress in Hunan province. But there are still some problems:first, The student’s employment ratio is still low? secondly, the student’s practical ability is some of weak; thirdly, the cooperation between school with enterprise and market are not strong enough. The preliminary analysis considered that the personnel training system still lacking of scientific is the most important reason. This study go into the teaching and course of visual communication design from China to abroad. Aiming at discussing a scientific way which the art talent cultivation, and coming up with a reasonable advice by reform the courses of visual communication design major.This paper will compare the visual communication major in art academy of TAFE (Technology And Further Education) in the Victoria state of Australia with the higher vocational art college in Hunan as an example, explore the research in the value orientation of the training objective、the curriculum content、the structure in course, the education system and the academic credit and so on, then, the main result are as following: First of all,there are apparent similarity between this two colleges in the aspect of the way of talent cultivation:First one, focusing on technology applied talents cultivation; The second one is,strength the cooperation between the college, enterprise and market; Lastly following the applicability characteristic of the curriculum’s contents.Secondly, the difference in various degree between two colleges in the progress of talent cultivation in visual communication major. Firstly, as the development trend of visual communication major, TAFE of Victoria state has shaped the essential characteristics,there are multi-cultural background, the supporting of informal organization, focusing on training the student’s ability; In the contrary, the higher art vacation college of Hunan province has showed us some problems,for example, the ambiguous training objectives, the theory in disagreement with practice in the courses structure and the low rate cooperation between colleges and enterprises, the second one,there are a large discrepancy between this two colleges in the aspects of education system and curriculum provision in the major of visual communication. Thirdly, the advantage and the principal formation reason between this two colleges,it can be as follows:Firstly,the discrepancy of historical background. Secondly, The discrepancy of training objective. The third is the different of faculty and teaching in the college. The visual communication major in vocational college of Hunan province should follow the practicality of curriculum, improving the talent training mode, strength the cooperation between colleges with enterprises and focusing on the cultivation of technical applied talents.
