Watercolor is a beautiful landscape in the art of painting, with a number of artists fascinated by its unique painting language. The brush touch of watercolor unlike the oil painting’s three-dimensional pen mark with thick stack of color, unlike the ink flow effect of traditional Chinese painting, and also different from the sketch which is mainly reflect the line shape of things. Based on the different characteristics of watercolor pen, the painting can be sometimes strong and sometimes gentle.In watercolor work, the expression of space depends on its contour lines. On the one hand, due to the complexity of the production process, the initial site of drafting lines were repeatedly covered by color; on the other hand, in order to show the volume of images the lines must exist as blocks.Study and observe the contour edges in watercolor, summarize and try different processing methods will help grasping the physical characteristics and the form of beauty in watercolor paintings. Starting from the image’s contours, study and summarize the artist’s methods and means of expression, will further understanding the form and sense of style in paintings.
