This paper describes the creative process of oil painting named "Residual". It introduces my study in late Rembrandt painting techniques, and as mentioned in articles to create a complete paintings. Rembrandt is my favorite painter. Not only his painting techniques affects me, but his artistic spirit touched me. I wanted to learn his techniques several years ago. So I begin with this paper I will do some research of Rembrandt’s paintings techniques and practices now.This paper introduced Rembrandt’s cover dyeing techniques, texture and light of Rembrandt. Can features of skin texture making is Rembrandt paintings techniques. It is the difference between Rembrandt paintings with other classical oil painting. Texture make let Rembrandt’s paintings are more simple sense and massiness. Through the cover drawing performance alternately, dyeing method and the direct, Rembrandt make the picture color richer, the form more accurate. More importantly Rembrandt drawing process driven by this technique directly, what is a great innovation of painting techniques. In this paper, I will provide a lot of pictures to show my creative process, materials used, use pictures to introduce my my learning techniques, more vividly illustrate Rembrandt’s painting techniques to create impact on me.As a result of the limitation of material in the process of my practice, I use other material to replace. Such as production steps of texture. Rembrandt used lead powder with a mixture of linseed, but I use oil and shaping cream to make the same texture with Rembrandt. On the use of some media agent, I also not completely according to materials of Rembrandt. The same method, different materials, and strive to make the same feeling, this is my difference to this research.
