Textbook plays a significant role in teaching foreigners Chinese. It is not only the basis for teachers to teach, but also the primary means for students to learn. Textbook has important role in the discipline system of second language teaching. But with the rapid development of Chinese Course for Foreigners, there comes a serious lag situation to the textbook quality. Although the current textbook has its unique innovations, there is space for improvement.Textbook evaluation can make us comprehensively know and understand the existing textbooks and find their successes and mistakes, which not only can provide the basis for the educational authorities to select textbooks, but also can give advice to the textbook writers for improvement, so as to improve the textbook quality of Chinese Course for Foreigners. The evaluation will enable teachers and students to make appropriate choice and arrangement of the current textbook during the actual teaching and learning activities, improve the actual textbook usage efficiency, and make the textbook serve teachers and students better.This paper is based on the writer’s teaching experience in the International Cultural Exchange Academy of a university. Firstly, the paper analyzes the current teaching status of Intermediate Chinese Reading Course; secondly, it focuses on the evaluation and analysis of the textbook, Intermediate Chinese Reading Course, used in the teaching activities; lastly, based on the analysis of the existing problems, the paper summarizes the corresponding teaching strategies and, so as to provide help to teachers and students who may use this textbook in the future. At the end, from the view of Second Language Acquisition, the paper raises suggestions for the compiling and teaching of intermediate reading course textbook.
