China "Institutional" Printmaking Exhibition Research

Exhibition, which was a product of cultural development, contributes to the connection and communication between artist and the public, and it has been playing more and more important roles in modern civilization. As one of the way to show the exhibitions, prints have shown the work of art to the whole society. Furthermore, prints, which are considered as a milestone in its history, delineate the developing levels in different period and the current status. The National Print Exhibition, which focus on Art works that reflect the spirit of the times of new china, has become the special exhibition with the most ages and session times in our country. Moreover, the National Print Exhibition was the most professional exhibition with the most attention. Considering the social value, aesthetic value and artistic value, no other exhibitions could substitute it. Although different organizers, motivation, theme and species could be observed in print exhibition that were conducted in different periods, the form of the National Print Exhibition has been never changed.In this literature, I primarily investigated the system of the National Print Exhibition in our country and considered the National Print Exhibition as an individual case, focusing the relationship between the print exhibition after the new china and the development of print at the same period. By analyzing the historical data of the National Print Exhibition, I attempt to explain the basic features of the institutional exhibitions which were held after the founding of China. Meanwhile, by clarifying the context of its development, I desire to the influence and the relationship between print exhibitions after the founding of China and the development of print in modern china.The literature was consisted of three components. Firstly, I explored the rise of the print exhibition in modern china. By researching the term of Art Exhibition, I try to make a thorough inquiry on the problem of the origin of Art Exhibition in modern china, revealing the reason and driving force of the print exhibitions; Secondly, by searching related information that focused on the National Print Exhibition from1949to2014, I discussed the system and structure of the National Print Exhibition, analyzing the diversity and the characteristics of the National Print Exhibition in different period; thirdly, from the point of society, art and the development of artists, I hope to study the effect of the National Print Exhibition, summarizing the significance of the National Print Exhibition to the development of print in china and disclosure the limitations.
