A Report On The Translation Of The Brain (Chapter5and Chapter6)

This is a translation project report on The Brain (chapter5to6). The authoruses a large number of lively and interesting scientific experiments to introduce therelations between perception and action, memory and the brain to readers.Hans Vermeer’s Skopos theory provides the theoretical basis for this project.Skopos theory emphasizes that the purpose of the translation text should be based onits target reader and certain purposes. The Brain：A Very Short Introduction belongsto Very Short Introductions from Oxford University, which is for anyone hoping for astimulating and accessible way in to a new subject. It belongs to popular sciencereadings. We should pay much attention on its characteristics of writing style andtarget readers. During the translation, the translator paid much attention on thefeatures of the popular science readings. The translator used a series of translatingmethods during the translation, such as resolution, addition and subtraction,domesticating noting, and so on. This project report has four chapters: Chapter Onepresents the its background and meaning; Chapter Two includes the theoretical basisand a short introduction of the source text; Chapter Three discusses the difficultiesand solutions including addition and subtraction, annotation; Chapter Foursummarizes the lessons learned from and the unresolved problems.
