Chinese character teaching has always been a difficult point in teaching Chineseas a second language. Writing Chinese character is even harder for Chinese learnersfrom non-Chinese cultural circle. The “component unite” of Chinese character is asignificant segment between strokes and full character, therefore the component uniteteaching method which in accordance with the constructing law of Chinese charactergives an edge to systematically Chinese character learning.Gestalt psychology originated in the visual field of research, after when itexpanded to the perception, memory and other fields. Gestalt means “form” and“whole”. The Gestalt psychology state refers to the wholeness of one’s conception,and the priori configuration to the inexperienced. So one observes things naturallywith Gestalt features. As one kind of unique ideograph, its components and shape ofthe full characters recognition acts similar to the recognition of graphics.This Gestalt gives reason of Chinese character errors of non-Chinese culturalcircle as well as offers a new viewpoint to Chinese character teaching. This paper willtake Gestalt as a breakthrough point to analyze the errors of Chinese characterswriting, and give my own suggestions with the help of the unite method in teachingChinese character.
