The belief of Guan Gong is one of the most popular folk belief in China. In modern society, the Chinese people at home and abroad where their footprints in, they all have the belief in Guan Gong.Research on the belief in Guan Gong development pattern in contemporary, is an excellent specimen understanding Chinese contemporary folk belief trend. Dang Yang is the burial place of Guan Gong, it plays an irreplaceable role in the development process of the Guan Gong Faith.This paper will make the belief of Guan Gong in Dang Yang for the starting point and the foothold,to explore the functional change of Guan Gong faith in Dang Yang which produced along with time change, then revealed the driving force in the process of changing and the deep-seated reason function of continuous fermentation, to forecast future development of Guan Gong Faith and prospects for the development of similar folklore. The development of Guan Gong faith in Dang Yang is divided into four periods,they are the Chenghua previous beliefs origin,the Ming and Qing dynasties belief establishment period,the three years to the end of ninety’s,the belief change period since twenty-first Century.Then the author mainly detailed psychological implication functions such as security、disaster risk、appeared to woo,social identity and cohesion function,organization function,economic function,culture function,sexual orientation status differences and development as well as the entertainment function shown in different periods.The third part, focus on the function of Guan Gong beliefs construct the main driving force, belief in the historical process of continuous heritage body. When the writer finishing Dang Yang Guan Gong Faith’s literature and field survey, found that the main forces involved in construction of Guan Gong Faith of ordinary believers, government agencies, customs and cultural elite’s descendants. They express their aspirations, different aspects influence the Guan Gong Faith, so that the performance of the final presentation of the moment.The forth part, the changes in the function of Guan Gong Faith in Dang Yang, all sectors of society from which each takes what he needs. With the development of history, mode of production and social progress, some functions will gradually be eliminated, some will be emphasized, this is a gradual process of adjustment, conform to the developing rule of faith.
