| Each county has a Confucius Temple and every village has a Guan Di Temple,which is the true portrayal of the universal worship of Confucius and Guan Gong.Guandi Temple has appeared in people’s vision since the Sui and Tang dynasties,and has continued to influence all dynasties.With the accumulation of years,the remains of the murals in the Guandi Temple are huge.They have been preserved from the Tang and Song Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties and even the early years of the Republic of China,and they reflect the characteristics of recent times,especially from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China.The remains of murals in this period are very considerable.This article also takes the murals of Guandi Temple in Chengnanbao Village,Pingyao County as a typical case study.This paper will be studied from the following steps.First,the Guandi Temple,with distinct mural themes and complete preservation,was selected as the research object.It is combed from four aspects: its historical evolution,architectural layout,mural retention and inscription record.Secondly,from the perspective of social culture and belief,this paper reveals that Guan Yu is rooted in social life as a belief culture,and combs and summarizes the process of formation,development and evolution of Guan Di Temple murals in the theme.In the same period,the murals of Guan Di Temple in other villages are compared and analyzed from the subject matter,modeling and painting techniques to explore the continuity of Guan Yu worship and the development of regional beliefs.In the study of the murals of the Guan Di Temple,the existing inscriptions in the temple are used as auxiliary materials to investigate the close relationship between the Guan Di Temple and the social gentry or Jin merchants,and to explore the cultural characteristics behind the art.Realize the mutual proof between mural image and tablet text.Finally,on the basis of the analysis of mural images and inscriptions,from the perspective of social memory construction and cultural identity,through the combination of images and characters,The relationship between social culture and the development of mural art is discussed.Based on the field investigation and document analysis of Guandi Temple in Chengnanbao Village,Pingyao County,this article combs and analyzes the mural image themes,artistic features and inscription texts in Guandi Temple in Chengnanbao from the perspective of art sociology,and tries to excavate The social and cultural characteristics behind the murals in Guandi Temple,and further explored that social groups with cultural identity not only chose Guan Yu’s story as the subject of murals,but the vision expressed in the images is a concentrated expression of the social people’s thoughts. |
