The Study Of Li Zhi’s Poems

Li Zhi (1059——1109), Fangshu,his friends called him Mr. Jinan. He also named himself Taihua hermit and Guanxi ordinary man. As The History of Song Dynasty said, his ancestors moved from Yunzhou to Huazhou, so he came from Huazhou (Huaxian county, Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province). He was orphaned since six years old and from then on he lived with his uncle. In1088and1091, he took part in the imperial civil service examinations, but he both failed. Thus he gave up taking the examinations and withdrew from society and lived in solitude in Changshe, Henan Province.Villagers together with the county leader,Li Zhuo, bought a house for him to live.In1109,at the age of51he died depressively.He and Huang Tingjian, Zhang Lei,Qin Guan, Chao Buzhi, Chen Shidao were called six men of noble characters among Su Shi.Li Zhi was good at poems and articles.His surviving works are Jinan ji, eight rolls; Deyuzhaihuapin,one roll;Shiyoutanji,one roll.Li Zhi was talented,and famous for his poems and articles. In poetical theory,He thought that literary style and personality have consistency.Ti,Zhi, Qi,Yun are important artistic skills for poems and articles.His literaty thought influnced his poetic thought. His poetry creation had transformation from participation in politics to a personal life.Divided from the content,there are Yongwu poems, tour poems, farewell poems and Changchou poems.In Yongwu poems, he explained reasons and expressed his feelings. In tour poems, he embodieds typicaltheme of loneliness and gave us a view of beautiful scenery. In farewell poems, he said hardly goodbye to his dear friends.In Changchou poems,he showed happiness with his fellows.His poems have great literature value and historical value.His poems have a style of majesty and his language is versatile. Jianan Fenggu and Li Bai,Du Fu, Su Shi and Tao Yuanmin all have good effects on his poems creation.
