City is the crystallization of human civilization. City management is necessary to the development of the city. The level of Public health work has a close bearing on citizen’s health and the stability of city life.Chongqing, as the youngest municipality of the people’s Republic of china, is one of major destitute areas that the state exploiting and supporting the poverty. Study on the development and change of Public health work in Chongqing has both academic and practical value. Public health work has changed from traditional medicine to modern medicine during Modern Chinese History. Public health work in Chongqing stepped in a new chapter as Chongqing became the capital of The Republic of China. Public health work in Chongqing started into a scientific and modern way.Public health work in Chongqing had made a remarkable development during Modern Chinese History. The church hospital, public hospital, private hospital, charity hospital, teaching hospital and army hospital had a great progress. Medical practitioners that contain native medical practitioners and western medical practitioners had different medical background which fell into different academic systems. They were competing rivals in the medical field. So their conflicts couldn’t be ignored. Both of native medical practitioners and western medical practitioners promoted the development of Public health work in Chongqing. The spatial layout of modern hospitals and medical practitioners in Chongqing was mainly affected by the urban environment and traffic, politics and religion, hospital specificity and the intrinsic factors of population. Public health work serviced to its social function, which made a In-depth analysis of the far-reaching implications in economic, social and political from social security, social order, social resources and social trends.
