Research On The Military Thoughts On Bamboo Slips In Han Tomb Of Yinque Mountain

The materials that were unearthed in the west Han Tomb on the YinQue moutain in Linyi, Shandong Province, involves the military. The unearthed famous military book Sunbin on The Art of War,which scattered and lost nearly two thousand years, not only let us affirmed that this book does ever existed and clarify the relationships between Sunbin and Sunwu and the questions of their respective works, but also provide the settings for the study of the characteristics of sunbin’s military thoughts and the relationships between the various Schools at that time, and provide many new important references for further to study the military thoughts during the period of spring and autumn and the warring states.Military thoughts is a kind of social ideology. It was created on the bases of certain material production and war, and was restricted and influenced by many other social ideologies. Political ideas, which reflect the interests of the certain class and groups determine the class nature of the military thinking, and restrict its development dircction.In the processes of the china’s histarical development, Because the period of spring and autumn and the period of warring states was the two periods that the war was very frequent and the all kinds of ideas were extremely active, so the military acadenic was quite flourishing and a batch of outstanding military thinkers ermerged. Among these military thinkers, Sunbin was a major figure, whose work Sunbin on the Art of War become the important materials for studing the military thoughts in spring and autumn period. This dissertation will be divided into four parts to analyze the militay thoughts of Sunbin on the Art of War. The first part is the introduction, which will briefly introduce the general stutations about the Yinque Mountain slips material and inllustrate the purpose and significance of the dissertation and briefly talk about the academic research on Yinque Mountain slips,especpially on the deficiencies of the passed studies about the military thoughts.The second part will be the body. This part emphatically analyzes the background of Sunbin’s military thoughts, which will be mainliy examed from these aspects bellow: the changes of the society situation at that time, the reforms of the states, the development of the economy and the increase of the population and so on.The third part will emphatically explains Sunbin’s military thoughts and it’s main influences to that time.From Qi culture impact on military thoughts of Sunbin, a few Schools formed his military thoughts, the influence of the rise of the warriors class and the frequent war to the basic role of Sunbin’s military form. Learning from and reforming and modifying the thoughts essence of the main Schools at that time SunBin on The Art of War then formed its own ideological and theoretical system.The fourth part will clearly and comprehensively analysis Sunbin’s military thoughts by comparing the war throughs, the specific strategies and tactics and the ideas of running forces beween Sunwu and Sunbin and by emphasising detailly the fact that based on the succession of Sunwu’s military thoughts, Sunbin’s military thoughts were reformed and developed.On the studies of Sunbin on The Art of War, the elder scholars through continuous efforts, have achieved remarkable achievements. Based on the reference these research achievements, this dissertation will maily focus on the reserch of military thoughts in the Sunbin on The Art of War of bamboo slips of having been unerathed in the west Han Tomb on the YinQue moutain and will give its own view about some of the questions. However, because that the author’s knowledge is limited, so many view of his may not yet be mature and it is hard to avoid some shortcomings, looking foward to the experts’s and scholars’s comments.
