The relation between Emotional Intelligence and Creativity remains largely unknown and there are different theories to explain it. The present study concluded its possible relationship which based on existed studies, and then gave a preliminary exploration for this focus from the perspective of personality by psychological measurement method. Meanwhile, Emotion is not only closely related to emotional intelligence, but also to be an important dynamic factor of promoting the individual potential creativity into realistic creative behavior and results. However, the role of emotion between Emotional Intelligence and Creativity remains unknown in previous relevant studies. Based on the "prototype elicitation" theory, this present study was designed to explore the dynamic effects of Emotional Intelligence and unconscious emotion on creative problem solving with Subliminal Emotional Priming. This study used the emotional intelligence scale (EIS) and creative tendency scale for experimental tools, and adopted a four-stage experimental paradigm by using Chinese logogriphs and standardized emotional images taken from Chinese Face Affective Picture System (CFAPS). First, the participants were asked to learn the prototypal logogriphs; then participants’ emotions of different valences were induced; last, participants were required to complete the target logogriph test.In Study one the123participants were given measures of emotional intelligence and creative tendency. The results reinforce the significant positive link between Emotional Intelligence and creative tendency. The link is weaker when Emotional Intelligence is lower. In study two we explored the effects of Emotional Intelligence and unconscious emotion on creative problem solving. The results showed that:1) the creative problem solving efficiency was affected significantly by the Emotional Intelligence levels. The problem solving efficiency of subjects with higher Emotional Intelligence is significantly higher than the lowers.2) The problem solving efficiency was also affected significantly by the unconscious emotions. Specifically, unconscious negative emotion has the greatest effect, unconscious positive emotion took second place, and the effect of unconscious neutral emotion was the minimum.3) the interaction effects of Emotional Intelligence and unconscious emotions were significant on creative problem solving. In conclusion, it was significantly correlated between Emotional Intelligence and Creativity. The creative problem solving was effected significantly by Emotional Intelligence levels, but this influence was regulated by unconscious emotion. Given the technical limitations of this study, the conclusions remain to be more studies tested and reexamined. Of course, it is necessary to develop more precise observed technologies.
