Thousands of pieces of the chu bamboo-slip of the warring states period were purchased and collected by the Shanghai Museum since the1990s.Especially in recent years,there have been many domestic colleges and universities buying and reserving lots of the warring states period slips and Qin-han dynasty wooden slips in a variety of ways.To a certain extent,these precious materials enriched the amount of excavated documents. And it has great study significances in many areas like ancient Chinese language and character research,the history research,the paleography,and the Chinese character calligraphy.However,we should be careful with these unscientific mining products,in case pseudo materials flood academic community,producing negative academic significance.Zhejiang University allegedly purchased a batch of the warring states period wooden slips from overseas in2009including Zuo Zhuan(左传) having124pieces of wooden slips after making up broken bamboo slips which contained2pieces of the missing slips with surviving exposures merely and13pieces of slips whose content is repeated.Yu Shao(玉勺) with2pieces of complete slips,Si Ri-zhi(四日至) with1piece of complete slip,Bu Shi-ji dao(卜筮祭禣) having20pieces of wooden slips after making up broken bamboo slips and Qian Ce(遣策) having33pieces of wooden slips after making up broken bamboo slips.The book the Chu Bamboo-slip of the Warring States Period Reserved in Zhejiang University(hereinafter referred to as Zhejiang University wooden slips) was issued under Cao Jin-yan professor’s general editorship by Zhejiang University Press in December2012.Since Zhejiang University wooden slips weren’t excavated from the earth directly but unscientific mining products,some scholars question it’s authenticity at present.focusing on the debate of McCoy or fake.There was a verification that this batch slips are the chu bamboo-slip of the warring states period by experts in bamboo slip and silk.Carbon-14test of this batch slips and Rorschach test under microscope by Fudan University.Although this batch slips were released solemnly,treated as "precious cultural heritage", the voice of the question flooded academic community.From the perspective of bamboo slips shape.verbal content and calligraphic style,Xing Wen indicated that this batch slips are fakes explicitly.Liu Shao-gang believed in it’s authenticity in an article named the Research on Zhejiang University Wooden Slips from the Perspective of Character Form and Calligraphy, but he also put forward some characters’ phenomenon that isn’t conform to the usage and pattern of Chu characters.And he failed to provide a reasonable explanation for it,which leaded to the question on it’s authenticity inevitably.If Zhejiang University Wooden Slips are authentically the genuine chu bamboo-slip of the warring states period, as Zhejiang university of art and archaeological museums says, this batch slips will be one of the most precious historical material in China’s cultural history.No matter how to evaluate the importance of academic significance is not much.However.if Zhejiang University Wooden Slips are fakes and pseudo materials.the consequences will be greatly different. Supposing that fake is mistaken for the genuine slips.fake academic history will be full of society and academic community,whose negative significance must be beyond our expectation.In that Zhejiang University Wooden Slips are "excavated" documents in an unscientific way, it is vital to authenticate it’s authenticity and there is nothing wrong with questioning it’s authenticity.But we shouldn’t fabricate the false fact,objectivity and impersonality is our attitude. This article will research Zhejiang University Wooden Slips from the Characters point in a comprehensive way.Using the unearthed materials on bamboo and silk of Chu,this article conducts studies on comparison of Zhejiang University Wooden Slips and other bamboo slips of Chu’s characters.By means of compiling a comparison table between Zhejiang University Wooden Slips and other bamboo slips of Chu’s characters,and then this article find Zhejiang University Wooden Slips’ characters conforming to other bamboo slips of Chu;Zhejiang University Wooden Slips’ characters being different from other bamboo slips of Chu;The same character in Zhejiang University Wooden Slips conforming to other bamboo slips of Chu or not;The characters appearing in Zhejiang University Wooden Slips but not in other bamboo slips of Chu.By means of visual comparison and specific quantification, we can discover the feature of Zhejiang University Wooden Slips’characters,being helpful to authenticate this batch slips’ authenticity.
