Gratitude, from Latin root “gratia”, means elegant, noble, thanksgiving. Thetheories on gratitude research are Cognitive Emotion Theory, Emotional ExperienceTheory, Broaden Construct Theory, Moral Emotion Theory. The fields of gratitude aregratitude and personality, mental health, subjective well-being, dear social behavior,religion, and the research of speech acts.Gratitude has gotten more and more attention as a research focus of the field ofpositive psychology in recent years, especially the current situation survey ofgratitude of college students, and the research in the relationship between gratitudeand belief in a just world are very important for the gratitude education and thecorrect values education in college.To explore the current situation of gratitude and the relationship betweengratitude and belief in a just world of colleges students, a total224students from twouniversities in Changchun were surveyed with Revision of the Gratitude Scale ofCollege Students and Just World Scale for College Students. The research mainlyinvestigated the gratitude situation and Demographic variables influence of Chinesecollege students, and the relationship between gratitude and belief in a just world.Conclusions:①Total score and factor scores of scale are higher than Theoretical Median. Onthe whole, the gratitude of college students is at a high level;②The gratitudebroadness is influenced by gender factors, in gratitude broadness, girls’ scores areprominently higher than boys’, the aspects of life and frequency of girl’ gratitude aremuch more than boys’;③There is no significant different between one-child andnon-one-child in total points and other dimensions, whether one-child or not has noimpact on college students’ gratitude level;④The aspects of grade have a certainimpact on gratitude level, the junior and senior are inclined to express their gratitudemuch better than freshmen;⑤Education level of father has no impact on thegratitude level of college students, but education level of mother has a certain impacton gratitude level, the students whose mother’s education level are junior high school, high school, university express their gratitude much better than others;⑥There is asignificant positive correlation between all facets of belief in a just world and totalpoints of gratitude;⑦In the three factors of belief in a just world, the ultimate fairand inherent injustice have positive prediction role to total points of gratitude, and theinterpretation reaches19.0%, the higher the level of belief in a just world is, the morecollege students are inclined to express their gratitude.This research has investigated the status of gratitude of college students in ourcountry deeply, and firstly explored the relationship between gratitude and belief in ajust world of college students, based on existing researches, it has provided theoreticalbasis for the scientifical gratitude education and the correct values education inuniversity.
