As an ideologist in the Western Han Dynasty,Jia Yi integrated Confucianism, Legalism and Taoism into his own theory.which embodied a anastomosed tendency of various thoughts of other thinkers to Confucianism. After a series of perpetual social upheavals till the early Han, Jia Yi analysed the principal contradiction based on his consideration of disadvantages of the model of Qin Dynasty. Thereupon, Jia Yi represented a thought of "combine the Legalism and the Etiquette while mainly Etiquette" to emphasize the importance of "rule by etiquette";he also advanced a theory developed from the Confucian Democracy thought, which advocated the people-oriented ideology;for preserving the centralization,Jia Yi propounded strongly the proposal to weaken the position of vassals, and to establish a sort of tactics named "Three Biao"and "Five Er" to defeat the Huns. Jia Yi’s political thoughts and theories occupy a very important place in the history of Chinese political thoughts, notably in the history of the early Han Dynasty. |
