The Role Of Filial Piety In The Rural Old-age Supporting From The Perspective Of Harmonious Society

The essence of Chinese culture can be stratified into three levels.The nature of national level is people-oriented. The nature of individuallevel is morality and the nature of moral level is filial piety. Filial piety,which can be deemed as the cornerstone of humanity and the bottom lineof conscience, is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. However,filial piety is declining over the past century. In today’s rural community,some of the elderly are not supported by their children. Their pensionbecome a major problem of the society. In view of this problem, the studyis exerted on the basis of Heilongjiang deputies Zhai Yu He’s nationalpension investigation, Whereas other published materials and statisticaldata is used as auxiliary materials. From the aspects of the theory, realityand cultural traditions, the dissertation reckoned filial piety as a startingpoint and the resolution of rural old-age issues as the purpose. In the term of traditional filial piety, we hold the criticallyinherited attitude, and make it become the connotation of filial piety,which can meet the requirements of the era. The promotion of the modernfilial piety will make the great contribution to the construction of socialistharmonious society. Secondly, to describe the effect of filial piety in ruralold-age supporting briefly. The promotion of filial piety is good forimproving the quality of the old persons’ life, constructing the rural socialist spiritual civilization, achieving the harmonious family,improving the quality of population, and resolving the rural socialpension problem. Thirdly, to analyze the realities and causes of the lackof filial piety in rural old-age supporting. The lack of filial piety formedin certain environment, which mainly include the family environment,school environment, and the social environment. In family environment,the concept of respecting and supporting the elderly has been desalinating,and the status of senior and junior has been reversing. In the family, thechildren dose not support the elderly, maltreat the elderly and evenencroach on the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly. Schools putthe educational emphasis on intellectual development and the majority ofthem despise moral education, especially, the filial piety education. Thesocial evaluation of filial piety is weakening, and the filial pietyatmosphere is declining. The reasons for these issues mainly include thelack of moral education, the lagging of rural economic development, thedesalination of traditional filial piety concept, and the hysteresis of thepropaganda and advocacy on traditional morality. Fourth, to formulate theresolution of pension problems of the rural elderly on the basis ofpromoting the modern filial piety. To strengthen the respect for the elderly,and reinforce the moral and legal education on the basis of developing therural economy so that the elderly in rural areas to be able to spend theirremaining years in a good circumstance.Rural old-age supporting issue is not only a family problem, but alsoa social problem; not only a people’s livelihood issue, but also a politicalissue. To accelerate the development of the rural economy and promotefarmers to get rich as soon as possible, is the fundamental way to solvethe problem of rural old-age supporting. To establish a sound socialsecurity system in rural areas as soon as possible, is the fundamentalguarantee to solve this problem. To promote the traditional virtues of theChinese nation, namely,"filial piety", is the spiritual power to solve theproblem. In the process of constructing a harmonious society, under the guidance of the scientific outlook on development, filial piety should bepioneered by the socialist core value system, adapted to the socialistmarket economy, coordinated with the legal norms. The whole societyshould strive to promote the filial piety, and address aging problem on thebasis of the strategic height of the old-age supporting work.
