This thesis, based on the official history records of both China and Korea,starting from the Crises of Diplomatic Documents between the Ming Dynasty and theJoseon Dynasty to analyze the statue and it’s development trend of Ming-Joseondiplomacy in the late Hongwu years. By emphasis on the analyzing and investigatingfor the Crises of Diplomatic Documents and its directly associated historical facts andfigures, the content of a special aspect of Ming-Joseon diplomacy during that periodwas explained systematically.Part I: Narrating the Crises of Diplomatic Documents between Ming and Joseon.To describe the whole story of the Crises emphatically, and describes the process ofinteraction between Ming and Joseon during the seven years when from1392AD(when Yi Seonggye established the Yi Dynasty) to1398AD (when the emperor ZhuYuanzhang died and Yi Seunggye abdicated). By integrated many scholars’ views, theauthor inducted the Crises into five sections, including two events which are notcaused by the mistakes in diplomatic documents, but have the same characters withthe other three events.Part II: The analyzing for the background and cause of the Crises of DiplomaticDocuments. In this part, the author made a more detailed and in-depth probe for theCrises in themselves, and then attributed these factors to two point as the both sideshave contradictions which could not be solved completely by the way of peacenegotiations, and the both sides all have a demand to solve contradictions by peaceway as far as possible. Next, the author analyzed the two point above starting fromthe researching to both of Ming and Josoen, to probe the irreconcilability in theterritorial disputes of the Liaodong area by two sides, and focused on the intensity ofthe demands to dispute territory. The author also discoursed the basic guidingideology of Pacifism in Ming and Josoen’s foreign policies and its effects in theprocess of interaction between the two sides.Part III: Jeong Tojeon, the key figure in the Crises. The author analyzed JeongTojeon as a key figure and a center figure in the Crises of Diplomatic Documents,aims to highlight the role played by the radical Confucians group of Josoen headed toJeong Tojeon who were also known as Scholars, and further explained the core andessence of the Crises of Diplomatic Documents.Part IV: Trying to discourse the influences of the Crises of DiplomaticDocuments. Be analyzed from two aspects of both the Ming and the Joseon,respectively, of this series of events on each of the parties, and at the same time totake into account the positive and negative aspects. Further discusses the status of theCrises of Diplomatic Documents on the history of Ming-Joseon diplomacy.
