After the two opium wars, the Qing Dynasty faced "unprecedented turbulent situation for thousands of years" and was forced to open its doors.to the western powers; the traditional diplomatic concept and system under the suzerain-vassal system that the late Qing government followed down from the feudalism China received increasingly great impact. The colonial aggression policy and diplomatic system that western powers dominated also brought huge impact on other East Asian countries. Before modern times, Korea’s foreign communication mainly made up by the "toadyism" and "good-neighbor policy" which centered on of the Qing Dynasty and Japan; after the second half of the 19th century, the constant invasion of Japan and the west greatly impacted on Korea’s traditional foreign communication system. Both the transformation of the diplomatic system from system of vassal state to modern system in late Qing Dynasty, and the transformation of the diplomatic system from "toadyism" and "good-neighbor policy" to modern diplomatic system in Korea is not achieved overnight nor a simple process but a relatively long and complex historical process with gradual change. After the opium wars, under the impact of the western colonial forces of aggression and the modern diplomatic system, the traditional diplomatic concept was challenged; with the translation and the spread of International Law, as well as the introduction of western diplomatic concept, China increasingly accepted modern diplomatic concept and there emerged some modern gradual change on diplomatic system. After the funding, through the incoming new concept of international law from China and Japan, Korea gradually deviated from the bondage of the traditional the Chinese-barbarian system and began to accept and adopt the diplomatic concept and system with modern significance. The paper sums up the transformation of the diplomatic system from traditional one to modern one of late Qing Dynasty and Korean system as well as their diplomatic concept change, conducts comparative study on the gradual change process of Sino-Korean modern diplomatic system and concept, analyzes their similarities and differences and explains the causes.
