On Liu Shaoqi’s Thoughts Of Socialist Democratic Politics After1949

This paper studied Liu Shaoqi’s thoughts of socialist democratic politics after the foundation of thePeople’s Republic of China. Liu, born on November24thof1898and died on November12thof1969,was a great Marxist. As one of the founding fathers of the People’s Republic of China, he was a keyfigure of the party’s first generation of central collective leadership when comrade Mao Zedong was thecore figure. Liu’s socialist democratic political thoughts were important part of the exploration ofsocialism. Based on the state system of the people’s democratic dictatorship,Liu, made painstakingexploration about China’s socialist democratic politics in the process of the localization of Marxism inChina, and left valuable thoughts for us. The study of Liu’s thoughts can develop contemporary value ofhis socialist democratic political theory.This paper, based on the literature of Liu’s socialist democratic political thoughts after thefoundation of the People’s Republic of China from academic circles at home and abroad, guided by theMarxist historical materialism, studying Liu’s thoughts of socialist democratic politics in a specialhistorical environment through the methods of literature analysis, summary of experience, comparativestudies and with the knowledge of political science and sociology. In this study, the paper, took thehistorical background and theoretical origins of Liu’s socialist democratic political thoughts as startingpoint, focused on his thoughts and practice, and re-understood the historical position of linking past andfuture of his thoughts. In the end, the objective evaluation was given for his historical limitations andthe actual enlightenment for the current construction of socialist democratic politics with Chinesecharacteristics was discussed at the same time.
