A Tentative Study On The Formation Of Group Polarization From The Perspective Of Network Political Participation

With the rapid development and wide application of the Internet in China, network politicalparticipation has become an important channel and means for citizen participation in national and socialevents, promoting the formulation of government policy and democratic supervision. At the same time,there are lots of the phenomena of the network group polarization in several network hot events. Thephenomenon of the network group polarization also has two sides: positive and negative impacts. Tomaximize the positive impact of the network group polarization, and reduce its negative effects,conducting a depth research on the formation and evolution of the law of the network group polarizationphenomenon is an important issue. The study draws on the cluster behavior theory and the spiral ofsilence theory, chooses "My dad is Li Gang" event, Yao Jiaxin event and Qian Yunhui event, uses theliterature method, network observation and textual analysis to collect and analysis Strong Nation ForumPosts to explore and analyze the forming elements of network group polarization phenomenon and theirroles.Through the research, I draw the following conclusions: First, the formation of the network grouppolarization phenomenon is a dynamic evolution process, which can be divided into four phases: thephase of the incubation, the phase of growing, the phase of the forming and the phase of thedisappearance. Second, the formation of the network group polarization phenomenon is a result of theroles of multi-factor. Social contradictions and network development is basis in reality of the networkgroup polarization; the irritating event is the fuse of the network group polarization; Internet users’mentality is the driving force of the network group polarization; a key figure is the catalyst of thenetwork group polarization, social response is the booster of the network group polarization. Third, theformation of the network group polarization phenomenon is a complex synthesis. One element may playa leading role in a certain stage of forming stage, while various elements may work at the same time in acertain forming stage.According to forming elements of the network group polarization, I put forward some followingrevelations: first of all, Government should establish a “the response to the Government”, the mediashould report balanced and Internet users should strengthen their own media literacy.
