The Study Of The Current Situation And Implementation Approaches Of Peasant-workers’ Decent Work In China

Since1999, Juan Somavia put forward the concept of decent work in the87thInternational Labor Organization meeting, the international society has given enoughattention to decent work, each member of the International Labor Organization uniifed in theframework, combined with their own basic national conditions, and strive to promote thedecent work agreement. China is an important member of the International LaborOrganization, Chinese government attaches great importance to decent work, activelyexplores the realization of decent work in China. Yet for decent work research, there is still abig distance between our country and western countries, domestic research mostly still stayon the understanding of the concept and theoretical analysis level, lack of empirical research.China has a huge group of peasant workers; however, the group has many problems onemployment, medical care, social security and so on. Not decent work phenomenon is acommon problem for peasant worker in the progress of ifnding jobs in daily life, for peasantworker group decent labor issues in China has certain theory value and practical signiifcance.This paper introduces contents, standards and strategic objectives of the decent workbased on the International Labor Organization uniifed framework, summarizes the researchstatus of domestic and foreign scholars on decent work, preliminary explores the peasantworker’s decent labor measure system, selecting Jilin province rural migrant workers as theresearch object, using questionnaire survey method and interview method, analyzes thepeasant-workers decent labor implementation status and obstacles, puts forward some rationalpolicy suggestions to realize Chinese peasant workers decent work.According to the research results, there is still a certain gap between our country peasantworkers’ work status and decent work at present, mainly displays in the poor workenvironment, low level of social security, low-income, not stable job and so on, the solutionof these problems still need a long time and favorable measures. It is a system engineering toachieve peasant worker decent work, the government, social organizations, enterprises, tradeunions; peasant workers themselves should give ofil attention, coordinated development, topromote the formation of decent work in our country.
