Achieving social justice is a consistent stand of the Chinese Communists. Indifferent historical periods, the Communist Party of China has also conducted a lot oftheoretical considerations and practical exploration in order to address the issue ofsocial equity, especially since China’s reform and opening up, on the one hand, during which period China has made remarkable achievements in economicconstruction, but on the other hand, the backwardness of its social development hasled to social injustice, resulting in the imbalance and in harmony between economicand social development. Nowadays, the Chinese Communist Party’s ability to resolvethe issue of social equity properly is directly related to the scientific development ofeconomy and society, as well as the construction of a harmonious society. Thus, tosolve the social equity issue is not only one of the key themes of China’s reform andopening up, but also an important content of the Chinese Communist Party’s buildingof its administrative capacity.Starting from the definition of "social justice", this article first introduces thecontent of social justice from four perspectives: fair right, fair chance, fair rules andfair distribution. The factors influencing social justice are also discussed. The second part firstly analyzes the theoretical foundations for the ChineseCommunist Party to solve the issue of social equity by reviewing the social justiceviews of the classical writers of Marxism, including Marx, Engels, Lenin, MaoZedong and others. Then it analyzes the thoughts related to social justice in Chinesetraditional culture and western culture, providing some references and revelations forthe Communist Party of China to solve the issue of social equity.Theoretical development changes in line with the development of practice. Thegreat journey of reform and opening up during the past30years is the importantprocess for the Communist Party of China to solve the social justice issue. One of themain contents of this article is to analyze in detail the measures adopted by leaderssuch as Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao in solving the social justice issue. At the beginning of the reform and opening up, when equalitarianism prevailed whilethe productivity was backward, on the one hand, Deng Xiaoping started from ournation’s reality and demanded to vigorously develop the productivity so as to makethe "cake" bigger, in hope of getting rid of common poverty and achieving common prosperity. On the other hand, he demanded to divide the "cake", to share theachievement of developing to everyone. Jiang Zemin proposed to unswervinglyregard development and the insurance of social justice as the major priorities, so as toachieve the goal of building a moderately prosperous society. With Hu Jintao as thegeneral secretary, the CPC Central Committee, under the guidance of the ScientificConcept of Development, regarded scientific development and the construction of aharmonious socialist society as the major specialties and focal points in constructingsocial equity.Taking the practice of the Communist Party of China in solving the social justiceissue since the reform and opening up into consideration, the last part tries to explorethe fundamental experience. This article illustrates this issue from the following fiveangles: the development of the socialist market economy, the promotion of theconstruction of socialist political civilization, the development of socialist cultureconstruction, the enhancement of the social construction and the construction ofecological civilization. It explores the fundamental experience for the CommunistParty of China to solve the social justice issue by combining the overall arrangementsfor the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics of "Five-in-one".
