Under the guiding principles of positivism, combining with the ancientdocuments and archaeological data, this paper mainly studies the related officials inQin and Han dynasties management market. It probes into the market officials in Qinand Han dynasties in systemic and objective ways. This paper is divided into threeparts as following:The first part discusses the setting of market officials in Qin and Han dynasties.Firstly, it inspects and combs the evolution of market officials in the pre-Qin periodand analyzes the changes and development of market officials’ name, setting andfunction. Secondly, researching from the aspects of institution setting, category andpersonnel, this paper infers the numbers of the market officials in Qin and Handynasties according to the existing research results.The second part mainly discusses the function of market officials in Qin and Handynasties. From the perspective of market management, this paper analyzes marketofficials and tax imposition, market officials and market membership management,market officials and price supervision, market officials and regulation of goods quality,weights and measures.The third part mainly studies the social impact of market officials in Qin and Handynasties. For example, it studies market officials’ illegal behavior and its impact, therole of market officials in maintaining market security and market order of the Feudalsociety commodity market.
