John Rawls is one of the most famous political philosophers in the twentieth century. After A Theory of Justice has been published, a series of related papers have beenpublished by Rawls also. He published them to further interpret, expand and correct histheory of justice. The view in Justice as Fairness: A Restatement which published in2001may be Rawls’final idea. To study the original position argument is to solve two questions. One is what is the difference of the argumentation between these two books. The otherone is to expound the contribution of Rawls to political philosophy. To solve theseproblems is beneficial to our better understanding of Rawls’ thought system, grasping thecore of his thought. And it is also be helpful for us to better absorb the essentials, so it hasinstructive significance to our political theory research. In the first chapter, I elaborate the original position argument in A Theory of Justice. In the second chapter, I state the original position argument in Justice as Fairness: ARestatement. Contrast the arguments in two periods, in chapter3, I sum up the differencesand changes of argument details and macroscopic method. Finally in the fourth chapter, Idiscuss these differences and changes, and try to present the reason analysis and briefevaluation.
