As culture mutually integrates with economy and politics and holds an increasingimportant part in comprehensive national power competition in the globe, reinforcing culturedevelopment in China, therefore, is of strategically significance. Faced with cultural diversityand globalization, Culture and ideology of China meet various challenges. We shouldemphasize and strengthen China’s cultural and ideological construction, improve the softpower of Chinese culture and resist different kinds of cultural aggression. The progress ofnetwork technology along with network media characterized by multi-media, multi-subject,timeliness and interaction which differ from traditional media turns the network media intopublicity for ideology. By means of network’s supervision and social safety valve functions,ideological publicity through network media has a more powerful influence as a result ofwhich network media will be, of course, grabbed by nations for ideological publicity. Butdisappointedly, the development of China’s network is far from perfect which reminds us tostrengthen our awareness of network safety. Strike and challenges caused by network mediatowards China’s ideological publicity in turn propel the construction of the socialist culturalleadership among network media. A variety of cultures spreading through network mediachallenge the spread of China’s traditional culture; different kinds of cultural products andforms branded with ideology surge on the Internet; ideology of western countries slips intoChina increasingly through network media and leaves its influences of which Chinese peopleare unaware: the spread of China’s dominant ideology meets its grave challenges. Facedwith those challenges, we should enhance the publicity of dominant ideology among networkmedia and develop the socialist cultural leadership among network media.Based on exposition of theoretical foundation upon which socialist cultural leadershipdevelops and characteristics of network media, this thesis points out current state of China’spublicity of ideology, reveals the shortcomings of network development and clearly states thenecessity to strengthen the development of network system for ideological publicity. On theother hand, this paper analyzes both the positive effects of network media and challenges itbrings towards dominant ideology, clearly states the significance of strengthening thedevelopment of network system for ideological publicity so as to further explore thedevelopment of socialist cultural leadership among network media.
