Build an ecological city is an important content of China’s urban development strategy, building a moderately prosperous society in an effective way to ensure sustainable economic development of the city, it is a sign of the progress of human civilization. In this paper, on the basis of extensive research the research status on the meaning and significance of the construction of the eco-city, that building ecological cities is fundamental to sustainable development, the use of the methods and principles of ecology, the ecological environment of a region the current situation, identify the root cause of the damage the ecological environment, combined with the actual situation of the region, come to the best mode of urban development, economic construction and resources and environmental development.Establish the purpose of the ecological city, is to ensure that the relationship between the economy, population, environment, resources, and ensure the the city sustained and rapid development. I start with the demand of the ecological city, to find ways to guarantee sustainable economic development, targeted measures and recommendations to solve;Baotou City is a relatively underdeveloped region, the rapid development of the economy and to meet the material and cultural needs of the residents is a priority, but not simply the pursuit of economic development, should pursue sustainable economic development should be the bearer within the population, environment, resources to seek development. In this paper, Chapter III from the natural environment, economic level, urban planning, urban environment in four aspects system analyzes the current development status of Baotou City, to clear a building ecological city problems and gaps in Baotou City, to establish the idea of the establishment of the ecological city and methods. Through large amounts of data and the status analysis in the fourth chapter, further clarified, Baotou City, irrational industrial structure, resource utilization is low, the extensive development of the economic, environmental pollution is serious, irrational urban greening and ecological awareness of residents, several aspects of the constraintsbuild an ecological city in Baotou City, the main factors; Chapter elaborated favorable factors to build an ecological city in Baotou City, pointed out that the Baotou City in the process of building an ecological city, the efforts made, particularly in the eco-aluminum construction of the industrial park, the Yellow Riverwetlands protection and achieved certain results. Finally, the constraints for the construction of ecological city of Baotou, from the structure of economic, ecological and environmental protection, green building, social progress and management aspects, gives suggestions and countermeasures for the construction of the eco-city of Baotou City.
