The rapid development of modern science and technology comes with higher requests for numerical controlled processing center, among which novel materials is needed to improve the vibration resistance. As a new kind of material used for the manufacture of machine tool bed, the resin composite material has the great damping capacity and heat stability with great application prospect. The research discussed in this paper is based on one ADG processing center machine tool bed made of the resin composite material. The static and dynamic characteristics, together with thermal state, are analyzed and compared with the cast iron one used before. Based on these results, the resin composite material machine tool bed is optimized. The contents of this paper are as the followings:(1) The force situation of the ADG processing center is analyzed under extreme cutting condition. Based on it, the stress distribution graph and max displacement in all directions of both machine tool beds are compared(2) The first six order natural frequencies and natural modes of both machine tool beds are studied and compared. The harmonic response analysis of both machine tool beds are conducted considering loads in different positions, and the response in the middle of the linear guide are compared.(3) The heat resource of the ADG processing center when running steadily is analyzed. The heating value of the processing center is calculated, and the thermal boundary condition is confirmed. Based on the results, the steady heat transfer analysis and couple thermal-mechanical analysis of both machine tool beds are studied. The stress and displacement distribution of both machine tool beds are analyzed under the same thermal and static load, and compared when only the static load exists.(4) The topological optimization based on SIMP of the resin composite material machine tool bed is conducted. According to the optimization results, two optimization programs are raised and compared. After this, the most optimal program is selected.
