As a part of the machine, the lathe bed is the foundation of whole machine, bearing the various loads and producing all kinds of deformation. Therefore, the stiffness and the intensity of lathe bed will affect precision and performance of machine. Meanwhile, due to the fast development of machine industry, the lathe bed, with traditional cast iron, have failed to meet the demand of high precision. So we should choose a new material to instead of the traditional cast iron. As a new type of composite material, the resin-mineral material has a lot of advantages, such as high damping, lower thermal expansivity, excellent ability of vibration absorption, no pollution, low cost. So the resin-mineral material will has great application in the field of machine. In this paper, the cylindrical grinding machine of MK02-1A10 was taken as the research object. The contents of this paper are as the following.In this paper, based on the original cylindrical grinder bed and considering the characteristics of resin-mineral material, the lathe bed has been designed by resin-mineral material. Then, the force and the heat source of the cylindrical grinder were analyzed and calculated. Based on it, static analysis, modal analysis, harmonic analysis and thermodynamic analysis of cylindrical grinder bed, with different material, were analyzed by ANSYS. So we get the static, the dynamic, and the thermal properties of the two beds. Comparing the results of the bed with different material, we can get a conclusion that the grinder bed with resin-mineral material not only have excellent static and dynamic characteristics, but also have excellent thermal stability and vibration absorption properties.At last, according to the results of the analysis of the lathe bed by resin-mineral material, the topology optimization of lathe bed is designed. Then, we analyze the relation between the natural frequency and the thickness of lathe bed. Ultimately, we get the structural optimization of the lathe bed by resin-mineral material.
