The research paper is sponsored by the National Natural ScienceFoundation project “Research on bionic coupling model of die casting diesurface enhanced by laser (No51275468)”. The paper is focused onimproving the service life of the die-casting die by CAE analysis and biometriclaser remelting processing. The failure zone on the die surfaces was predictedby analyzing the temperature field, velocity field and stress field obtained byCAE simulation. The study present a method to determine the failure locationfor a new set of die-casting die, which avoid the blindness of bionicenhancement model design and provide theoretical basis and technical supportfor biomimetic laser strengthen to be processed on expensive and complexdie-casting die surface.First, the interface exchange between HyperMesh and ProCAST wasexplored. A proper meshing method was presented for model pre-treatment inProCAST simulation. Then, the temperature field, the flow field and stressfield for a set of die-casting die in real production were analyzed. The heatcrack regions on the die surface were predicted. After that the results of CAEanalysis were compared with data in practice. It shows that the heat crackregions on the die surface obtained by CAE analysis are agreed with failureregions in practice. The laser bionic laser remelting processing experiment on die surface wasstudied. The laser parameters was optimized by orthogonal experiment toevaluate the micrograph of the unit. Then, the micro-hardness of the bionicunit was measured. The heat fatigue experiment was done. The mechanism ofreinforcement was demonstrated, Based on the analysis and the experiments ofthe abovementioned work, a set of new die-casting die was analyzed andenhanced by bionic laser remelting process. The result shows that the servicelife of the die has been prolonged more than one fold after the laser bionicenhancement. So the economic benefit is significant...
