Urban Planning In Three Gorges Reservoir Riverside Ecological Landscape Design And Research

From ancient times, Cities along the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River have created themselves in steep mountains, thrives on the rushing river and flourishing population. As the Three Gorges Dam was completed, Three Gorges Area, which locates in the west and central of our country, has become an economic and cultural bond between upper and middle Yangtze River, all of this has brought great development opportunity to Three Gorges Area. But meanwhile, it has also resulted in tremendous changes of the natural environment. Especially after the success of water175meters in2011,"a smooth lake rises in the narrow gorges", the peculiar and precipitous natural landscape has changed dramatically due to rising Yangtze River. And now those vanishing ancient cities can only remain forever engraved on people’s memory.The consequent change is bustling construction of new cities, and the urban infrastructure constructions have been basically completed after more than10years of Rapid urbanization. We should aggressively creating new cities with recent focus on reinventing image and new functions, in order to meet the ever-increasing material wants and spiritual needs of people, and this is also requested by the tourism development. Construction and integration work on the riverside of reservoir area should be the focal point of the new cities.As one of important resources of reservoir area cities, the riverside areas have long played many significant roles in the urban functions. Not only for the integration of man-made landscape and natural ecological environment, but also in order to create high-quality, new riverside images with local characteristics, in the meantime combined with concept of the12th5-Year Plan that aiming for Three Gorges reservoir area construction to create the central ecological functional areas and world-class ecological landscape tourism resort, this article based on the landscape design of urban riversides has combined Ecology, Landscape Ecology, Landscape Architecture, Tourism Layout and Botany, etc. The planning and designing of ecological landscape of Three Gorges reservoir area’s urban riverside was researched by literature studies, field investigation, comprehensive analysis, Summarizing. Furthermore, designing principles and methods for that landscape were proposed preliminarily in this article, which makes a reference for realistic and theoretical basis of the construction of ecological landscape of Three Gorges reservoir area’s urban riverside.First of all, background, significance, subjects, approaches of researching and thesis frameworks are analyzed for definition and features of the ecological landscape, expatiation and limitation of this landscape’s concept were presented based on these analysis. On the basis of theory studies, Chapter2makes studies and explanation towards the present situation, main problems of urban construction and the realistic significances of urban riverside ecological landscape. Chapter3and Chapter4are focused on three characteristics: regional, environmental and social. Detailed design elements, principles and methods were presented accordingly. As an empirical research, the concluding part explores the urban riverside ecological landscape’s design of Fengjie, which locates in Three Gorges areas. Thus, the application and universality of the landscape planning and designing approaches mentioned in this paper can be well illustrated.
