Traffic Congestion Countermeasures Downtown Shanghai

China has the largest population in the world and also is one of the quickest development countries on economy. As the economy develops and the income level raises, people’s car consumption demands surge. On one hand, we have to face crowed urban traffic problems; on the other hand, we face the increscent traffic demands. The contradiction of the supply and demand on urban traffic as well as the traffic congestion problems have become one of the most difficult problems to be eager to resolve during urbanization in China. Shanghai, the largest center of economy, finance, transportation, the traffic problem become more and more serious.With the expedition of urbanization and population and economy development, the traffic in Shanghai has reached saturation. The central urban region is the core of the urban development. With the rapid development of our national economy, motor vehicles keeps going up, the problem of heavy traffic spread in all the big cities, especially in the central city.All though the traffic system in Shanghai has vastly improved than before, the traffic condition of the central city in Shanghai is still unsatisfactory, especially in the rush hour.This paper take urban the traffic in Shanghai for instance, analysis the problem of traffic jams and congestion in the central city from the theory of public administration and public selection, discuss the countermeasure and provide some beneficial reference to overcome the traffic jams and congestion in sentry city.
