The induction heating power supply is widely used in smelting, diathermanous heating, induction hardening and so many different fields. They can be divided into two categories on the whole, one is parallel resonant induction heating power supply, and the other is the series resonant induction heating power supply. The series resonant induction heating power supply, which belongs to voltage type harmonic power supplies power, has high Q value. It has high resonance voltage witch is dangerous to the safety of the equipment and its furnace wall can not be made very thick, the parallel resonant induction heating power supply, which belongs to current type harmonic power supplies power is difficult to start to work. It has large power loss for the very large current in the induction coil and its furnace wall can not be made very thick. The low Q value induction heating power supply is a new circuit topology. This topology with constant current source power supply has reactive energy transformational circuit which can transform the reactive energy into active energy, so this new power supply has low Q value. Compared with the traditional power supply, it can start to work easily and it can snap out of the free-wheeling diode and its furnace wall can be made pretty thick. The low Q value induction heating power supply with SCR works in low frequency-just300Hz and it needs to add a very large blocking capacitor and its Q approximately equals3.1. The low Q value induction heating power supply using IGBT as its switch can work in high frequency. In this paper, the low Q value induction heating power supply can work on a15.36KHz frequency. The high-frequency heating power supply can be used in hardening field to extend its uses. The low Q value induction heating power supply with IGBT can snap out of the very large blocking capacitor and its Q drops to1.27.In this paper I designed and manufactured a small power supply with IGBT. The system controlled by MCU. The experimental data shows that the low Q value induction heating power supply can work in high frequency and this experiment provide a basis for the future industrial-scale production.
