Induction heating is a form of non-contacting heating, which heat workpiece by the energy of eddy generated in the workpiece. Induction heating has wide application aspect in fields as metal heat processing, welding, melting etc..In the thesis, a medium frequency high power induction heating supply was presented. Detailed study was carried out to induction heating technology and high power medium frequency technology, and an IGBT based power supply for induction heating was designed. The main circuit, driving circuit, control circuit based on frequency-tracking and protecting circuit were analyzed in detail. Firstly, two deferent basic inverter topologies used in induction heating was analyzed, and those were designed for a full-bridge induction heating power supply based on IGBT and series resonance, also the specific parameters of components used in the circuit were given. Then, after analyzed the exiting IGBT driving modules, an improved driving circuit was achieved based on the popular driving module EXB841. Thirdly, the normally used inverter control policies were performed, and according to the characteristics of series resonant inverter, frequency tracking PWM control circuit based on PLL was put forward. At last, the thesis studied the strategies of IGBT protection and system power, a protecting circuit as well as the system power circuit were completed.Simulation waveforms of the main circuit and the improved driving circuit were put forward, and the simulation results were correct. Experiments for the control circuit, frequency tracking circuit and the protect circuit verified the feasibility of the design.
