Scabiosa tschiliensis Grunning is a plant in the family of Dipsacaceae, which has an effect of antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, etc. It has been widely used in Mongolian.In this paper, the ingredient of Scabiosa tschiliensis Grunning of different growing period:plant before blossom, plant in blossom without flower, fruiting plant, and inflorescence were extracted. The content of total phenols and flavonoids were analysised. A HPLC analysis method to the free phenol of Scabiosa tschiliensis Grunning was developed, and10free phenols of each extraction were determined. Antioxidant activity and antibacterial activity of each extraction were analysised.The experimental results are as follows:1.The inflorescence of Scabiosa tschiliensis extracting has the highest acquisition rate,28.32%.2.The inflorescence has the highest content of total phenols,2.594%. Second was plant before blossom,1.535%. In these materials, the content of total phenols of ethyl acetate extraction was highest, second was N-butyl alcohol extraction, third was the crude extraction, then was the petroleum ether extraction, the last was the water extraction.3. The inflorescence has the highest content of total flavonoids,4.197%. Second was plant before blossom,3.378%. In these materials except plant in blossom without flower, the content of flavonoids of ethyl acetate extraction was highest, second was N-butyl alcohol extraction, third was the crude extraction, then was the petroleum ether extraction, the last was the water extraction. In plant in blossom without flower, the lowest contant belonged to petroleum ether extraction.4. A HPLC analysis method to the free phenol of Scabiosa tschiliensis Grunning was developed for the first time, and10free phenols of each extraction were determined. The contant and type of phenol has big difference between plants of different growing period and inflorescence. Total contant was gradually reduced from the plant before blossom to the fruiting plant. The inflorescence has highest contant of the10free phenols.5. Scabiosa tschiliensis Grunning had strong antioxidant activity. The inflorescence and the plant before blossom had strong antioxidant activity, fruiting plant was inferior. Scavenging activity for DPPH, ABTS,·OH and TBA method had an agreed consequence. In these4materials, the most efficient of scavenging activity for DPPH, ABTS,·OH was the ethyl acetate extraction, second was the N-butyl alcohol extraction and the crude extraction, then was the petroleum ether extraction and the water extraction. The N-butyl alcohol extraction has lowest MDA content, second was the ethyl acetate extraction, third was the crude extraction, then was the petroleum ether extraction, the last was the water extraction. Correlation between IC50and the total polyphenol content is not high, as well as Correlation between IC50and the flavonoids contant.6. Scabiosa tschiliensis Grunning had weak antibacterial activity. The crude extraction of the plant before blosslm and the inflorescence has a good anti-Staphylococcus aureus activity, whose MIC were6.25mg/mL. The petroleum ether extraction and the ethyl acetate extraction of the4materials has a better Anti-Staphylococcus aureus activity, whose MIC were6.25mg/mL~25mg/mL.
