This assay is a study on Sun Yuanxiang’s communication with the Xingling-group leader and other four members. What we want to make a breakthrough by a discussion of their contact is the time, the reason, and specific situation of their meets, which makes a important sense on poetry history. With specific case studies, we can have a good command of the historical contrail of Xingling-poetry, about Xingling school communication, development, and expansion. The essay could be divides into four chapters. The first chapter is about the contact of Sun Yuanxiang and YuanMei, who was the leader of Xingling poetry school. The first time they met is before1788which many scholars regards as the first time they met and the place is in Nanjing, not in Zhaowen, Nanjing. Actually, Sun visited Yuan in1786, but Yuan was not in. Sun Yuanxian visiting Yuan Mei is recommended by Wu Weiguang, which can be proved by the letter from Wu Weiguang to Yuan Mei, and Sun Yuanxiang’s aim is not only in learning from Yuan Mei but also in making himself known by others. The visit to Zhaowen by Yuan Mei is just a accident not a direct invite, but it makes a perfect accident for all poetries recommended by Wu Weiguang, SunYuanxiang and other five person,Chen Shenghe, Wu Zhuoxin, Hu Mingqian, Wang Jiangxiang and Bao Yan. Then we find the attitude from Sun Yuanxiang to Yuan Mei again the attitude from Yuan Mei to Sun Yuanxiang. Sun Yuanxiang showed his respect to Yuan Mei through his all life. This respect was kept even if other literatures’ attitudes changed after Yuan Mei died. Yuan Mei, however, seemed not pay more attention on Su Yuanxiang and their relationship is not so close as we thought before. The reason follows:there is few poetries in Yuan Mei’s works; they lived in two areas; Yuan Mei preferred to make friends with people from the first class rather than a commoner; Sun Yuanxiang is not a real student taught by Yuan Mei; Yuan Mei didn’t agree with Sun Yuanxiang’s idea about poetry theory; Yuan Mei tended to receive female students in his old age; there is a big gap between them for their different position and interents. The second chapter is about the relationship among Sun Yuanxiang, Zhao Yi and Zhang Wentao. It has two parts. The first part studies the contact beween Sun Yuanxiang and Zhao yi. They belong to different social class but share a close relation. Though they did not contact much, they made a breakthrough in the development of poetry theory. The second part emphasizes on the contact beween Sun Yuanxiang and Zhang Wentao. They never lived in a same place for a long time. In most condition, one lived in the south of China; the other lived in the north. What they had the same feeling for in others is official career instead of poetry theory when they met in Suzhou later, They respectively worked and affected on Xingling-poetry group. The third chapter is on the relationship among Sun Yuanxiang, Shu Wei and Wang Tan, who was called as Three Great Masters because of Fa Shishan’s praise in his article "For Three Great Masters". Fa Shishan thought highly of them for their ambition rather than Xingling-poetry group. The reason Fa Shishan wrote this assay is his friendship relation with Wu Weiguang, not he agreeing with Yuan Mei’s theory of writing poerty. Actually Sun Yuanxiang could be grouped into Xingling-poetry group leading by Yuan Mei, while Wang tan and Shu Wei couldn’t. Among the association of Three Great Masters, Wang Tan played a significant role. The additional expound think that Sun Yuanxiang first discovered poetry interesting and meaningful because of Xi Peilan’s effect. And then his father guided him to study poetry in Xingling poetry’s style. The way Sun Yuanxiang and Xi Peilan contacted could be regared as a fine example for couples in the word."Sweetheart" in Sun’s poetries is not a real person but a fictive literature figure for comforting himself when traveling away. What keeps our eyes on is Xi Peilan’s contact with a lot male poets. This contact did not break this couple’s love but strengthen it. This couple advocated their work to promote Xingling poetry’s evolution. At last, the paper deals with Sun Yuanxiang’ making friends on the spread of Xingling-poetry group, and his making friends outside of the group also contributes to the development of Xingling-thoery,which can be left to further research.
