| Darkhan had been an official title of the northern nomads since ancient times. The meanings of darkhan also change with the evolution of the history. A person who was denoted the title of darkhan would enjoy high privileges. A special troop named darkhan army occurred in the Yuan Dynasty which was associated with darkhan. The system of darkhan had played an important rule in Mongolian history and it also had a profound effect on the later generations. This paper fully absorbed the results of previous studies and went on collecting, summarizing, analyzing the historical documents in order to state it sufficiently.The paper is divided into four parts:the first part is introduction; the second part accounted the darkhan before the Yuan Dynasty; the third part discussed the darkhan in the period of Yeke Mongol Ulus Yuan Dynasty and in the last part we expounded the darkhan armies. |
