Tantric "Mandala" Research

Tantrism (vajrayana)i a highest stage of Mahayana and core of Tibetan Buddhism. The purpose of this dissertation is to do research on tantric mandala. First of all, i collected the works related to tantric mendala from Mongolian kanjur and tanjur, took out the texts that describe the buddhas and mandalas,then I discuss about the structure and symbolic meaning of mandala and provide a brief account on the rituals for finding a place for making mandala.In first chapter, I will briefly present the early history of tantrism and introduce the trantic philosophers, their works, their main philosophical idea about tantra, and early history of tantrism in Chinese region.In second chapter, I sort out the various Buddha descriptions and present the images. In third chapter, I analyze the mandala structures and symbolic meaning described in mandala collection written by Buddha guhaya.In fourth chapter, summarize the main content of tantrism teaching and mandala making practices.
