The modernity originated in Western extended to the Muslim societies, alongwith the economic development of Western capitalism and the colonialmovement.The expansion and accumulation of the modern elements lead to theintensify conflict between tradition and modernity in the Muslim societies, becauseof which the Islamic world is facing the complex issues of social transformation. It is atwo-way interactive process between Islam and society. As mainstream social culture,Islam has to interpret the modernistic nature of the traditional religions, includingthe definition of the modern connotation of Islam, the relations of slam andmodernity. Islamic Revitalization in the background of social transformation ofMuslim indicates that Islam religion has changed accordingly and responded to themain problems faced by the Muslim societies in the process of social transformation.The main problems are the relationship between traditional and modern and thereconstruction of social order.The Irans Islamic Revolution in1979is a landmark event for the Islamic revivalmovement, which means the peak of the revival. After the revolution, Iran buildthe Velayat-e faqih system based on Khomeini’s major social and political thought.This article begins from the relation between state and religion after reform,analyzing the main theoretical and ideological foundation of the Islamic theocracy:the Khomeini doctrine, and the institutionalization of this political and socialconcepts, and the practices of church-state relations in Khomeini period andKhomeini period. This paper argues that the Islamic revival is the response to thetension of traditional religion and modern society, and responsed to the manyproblems on the relationship between religion and society in some respects, theanalysis shows that religious faith as the core of this system of meaning is changingto associate with the social structure of the model, and some Islamic ideas breakingaway from the traditional social and historical context have blended into modernsociety.
