Oil painting is a world art. China’s oil painting has a history of over400years since the art came from the West since seventeenth Century. In the history of the Chinese painting’s development, the theme of ethnic minorities painting as one of the important components has unique artistic charm and research value.The Oroqen is one of the ethnic minorities with less population in China. The oil painting development history started in the nineteen eighties. In view of the current academic circles’ limited research on the oil painting art, the author tries to make the study of Bai Ying’ art as case study to explore Chinese minorities especially development of ethnic minorities with a small population of oil painting. The author tries to explore in this field. As a typical artist of the Oroqen, Bai Ying’s art creation reflects the area’s natural beauty and social life. This paper uses the method of literature review, field survey method, image method for a comprehensive review of the artist and the artistic style of painting.The first chapter is introduction. The thesis is divided into four parts. The introduction part mainly introduces the selected topic basis and the significance, relates the content and the target of selection methods briefly, combs some defines and reviews related research in this field.The second chapter introduces the Bars life and oil painting. Both the growth environment, cultural centers, childhood painting learning, college professional training and work in the museum, these experiences have laid a good foundation, and provide endless inspiration for his oil painting. For the oil painting, the elaboration mainly carries on from three aspects of his creation, creation techniques, creative works and achievements. Based on summarizing the creation of Bai Ying’s exploration stage, mature stage, the oil painting techniques are described. Finally, the paintings which are collected exhaustively as far as possible are described briefly, and the painters held or participated in the exhibition and award-winning works are summarized.The third chapter analyzes the oil painting from two aspects of ontology research and cultural interpretation. First of all, the author combs the oil painting creation theme, including three subjects——landscape, animal, figure and interpret representative works from the angle of art. Secondly, the author analyzes the form of works, mainly from the composition, color, modeling, brushwork. Finally, analyses the works’ cultural connotation, reveals the love of natural life, to the traditional cultures of ethnic belief, etc.The fourth chapter analyzes the causes of the works, mainly launches from two dimensions——painter’s era background, natural and social environment. In the context of Chinese local realism oil painting development, the creation of oil painting is a modern expression of the Oroqen development situation; Natural geography and social environment of the area unique to the oil painting with unique creative material and art language; The spirit and aesthetic appeal have important influence on the formation on the artistic style of the oil painting. As the first generation of oil painters, Bai’s Art opened a prelude to the development of the Oroqen oil painting, and injected new vitality into the development of the ethnic minority art. Bai Ying’s identity of an ethnic minority painter and learning experience in higher institution give his work with highly conscious humanistic care. The age and the environment give the strong local nostalgic atmosphere. This is a microcosm of China’s minority painter group, from which people get a glimpse of the unique aesthetic value and realistic significance minority painting. In the contemporary, when Chinese oil painting has become diverse increasingly, Bai’oil painting creation is an interpretation for the oil painting nationalization.
