Wang Zengqi is a writer who connect Chinese modern literary to contemporary literary.1940s is the initial stage of his literary creation, and his works created in this period contain deep tragic consciousness. Frustrated experiences in the environment of war and the impregnation of Western Modernist Literature are the specific background of Wang Zengqi’s literary creation in1940s. His works created in1940s contain rich tragic connotations. They include life tragedies composed by difficult survival of ordinary people and the helpless that people cannot grasp their fate, social tragedies composed by fading away of Chinese traditional culture and the death of valuable life, spiritual tragedies composed by self-deprivation of their survival value and the absurdity and nothingness of individual life.Rather than the fierce battle between good and evil, intense conflict of beauty and ugliness, Wang Zengqi’s literary creation in1940s pursuits moderation and harmony of tragic emotions. He also integrates humanitarian sympathy and compassion into his works. So his works in this period show a unique tragedy aesthetic characteristic. Under the influence of traditional Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism and tragedy expression of "Jing Pai" writers, Wang Zengqi employs Implicit End,"Recalling" Narration and Custom Description to desalinate the tragic consciousness of his works, in order to realize his aesthetic pursuit of harmony. In addition to the tragic theme, Wang Zengqi advocates people to discover beauty and poetry in tragedy life and overcome life’s suffering circumstances by poetic inhabitation. He also shows a great deal of attention on the folk ordinary people, returning to the human body and life itself outside the mainstream literature. In the literary environment of1940s that political theme accounts for the main part, Wang Zengqi’s literary creation presents a unique artistic value.
