Hans Holbein the Younger is one of the famous Germany portrait painter in sixteenth Century, the style of his painting is rigorous and exquisite. There is rich and various articles in his painting, and often contained rich symbolic significance in the picture. This paper attempts to use the method of iconography to analyze the meaning behind his two paintings and the reasons behind the formation of his works according to his age and region on the other hand. Through the analysis to gain a better understanding of Holbein and his works, and attempts to explore the use of symbolism in the artistic creation. |
