Character of profession was defined as the role that everyone should play in a specific working field. As a kind of social responsibility, great quality and ability, professional ethics would be real and concrete while it focused on professional role morality. Generally speaking, there was a certain distance between moral practice and role expectation. When the distance exceeded certain limit, it would be harmful to "social civilization". Through understanding the actual status of the occupational role moral distance, it was an important condition to save professional ethics education from the state of empty and helpless. In this paper, it followed the order of finding-analysis-solving problems. Through understanding differences between the occupational role of moral practice and role expectation to explore the performance and reasons of the role of moral distance and improve the professional ethics education.The research on professional role and moral distance was still in a primary stage in a shortage of basic theory. The paper selected doctor and teacher as examples, through collection of text data and questionnaires, interview and so on, respectively got university students and patients’professional role moral expectations and feelings for university teachers and doctors. At the same time, took the survey of university teachers and doctors as auxiliary, in order to understand professional role moral expectation, practice and the expression of professional role moral distance better.It summed up that professional role morality distance mainly was expressed in tow ways:benefit conflicts under the information asymmetry and inappropriate words and deeds in the occupational behavior. According to the survey data, with the aid of social role theory, moral theory research results, it concluded four main reasons for the professional role distance:(1) Professional role morality fuzzy causing by role recognition fuzzy.(2) Judgment on the capital of professional role morality.(3) Moral frustrations of professional role in practice.(4) The instability of professional role moral emotion.On this basis, it put forward pieces of suggestion on improvement the professional role moral education from four aspects:(1) Clear professional role consciousness, improve professional role moral cognition.(2) Emphasis the role’s moral feeling experience, rich education ways.(3) Create role morality problem situations, improve moral judgment and selection abilities.(4) promote education implementation in the cooperation of society, schools and professional organizations, etc.
